Today's pipelines rules and regulations require instant identification of ownership and responsibility, a serious concern for all pipeline operating companies.  As new identification rules are implemented, all pipelines are subjected to constant monitoring by both federal and local enforcement agencies for compliance.

Over the years, various types of tags have been used to try and identify piping ownership.  All must contain specific company ownership/user information.  Some ID tags are attached to flanges by use of a wire or plastic ties, which can tear off over time.  Other types of tags include:  information embossed into plastic card sheets, information engraved into metal tags and attached to the pipe itself and even cardboard stock which deterioates very quickly.  Tags placed into the field conditions are subject to constantly changing weather conditions.  The results are tag deterioation by rust, lettering filled with debris, torn ID tags or totally illegible ID tags covered with paint when the site is repainted.  When this happens, violations of pipeline identification laws could occur.

Benefits The GPI "Laser Identification Tags" we offer are constructed of a stainless steel material that is made to withstand the elements, cannot be easily removed without removing a flange nut, small but easily identifiable and withstands normal painting by not allowing the cut-out lettering to be filled with paint (which can render other tags illegible).  Built for a major Midwestern gas company, these tags are strong and durable and contain the following advantages:
  • 304-B Stainless Steel 22 gauge
  • Rounded Edges
  • Paint/Coatings will not affect lettering
  • Attached to flange bolt nut for strength and durability
  • Easy to Read
  • Built for the future
  • Various shapes and styles
